This is the front of what will be a long-sleeved V-neck pullover for Mermaid Girl's fourth cousin, in Seattle. He is two years old, and I made sweaters for his older sisters a couple of years ago, so now it's his turn.
There is a beautiful aquarium in his house, so I'm hoping he likes fishies. I couldn't wait to see how they looked, so I started the sweater front first this time.

Lioness: Only after Little Cousin outgrows it, and even then not until I'm certain there will be no Little Merman or Little Tiger on the horizon.

Wow, savtadotty! That is absolutely fabulous! Is it intarsia or duplicate stitch? Either way, it's gorgeous. I would love to make something like that. If it's a free pattern, can you share the URL? If not, please tell me the book it's in.
Amy: It's intarsia. The book is Style Your Own Kids' Knits by Kate Buller, a designer for Rowan Yarns. Amazon has it listed, with reader rave reviews I agree with. First you choose a size and decide whether it'll be a cardigan or a pullover, and what kind of neckline. Then you decide whether to add edgings, pockets, hood (that's where I got the ruffles for MG's sweater). Finally, there's a stitch-and-border library (where I got the waves) and a terrific motif library (where I got the fishes). Fun!
