A Poem Inspired by Spring

Spring Romance

Said pillowcase to tablecloth,
"Will you marry me?"
Said tablecloth to pillowcase,
"That will never be."

"Winestains and breadcrumbs
Are my lot in life.
While yours is dreams and tears.
We serve two different purposes;
People eat and cry."

Said pillowcase to tablecloth,
"But that's exactly why!
I'll meet you on the clothesline,
Where we will share the sky."

This poem is by Savtadotty. She wrote it down by hand with a new pen in a new notebook, both bought for the purpose, at Cafe Siach, Shenkin Street, Tel Aviv, on Monday, March 27, 2006.

Thank you for reading it, and thank you for your comments.

I hope you're very proud of yourself Savta. This is wonderful.
"Winestains amd breadcrumbs..." evoked so many memories---but you forgot the wax! Somehow, despite precautions it always ended up with the stains and crumbs. So sweet....
And we must never forget we DO share the sky.

Thanks for sharing.

goldenlucyd - I am more mystified than proud. The poem just came through me, I hardly had much input at all. Glad it resonated with your experience.

Just lovely! It feels like a frolic in the springtime sun. It is such a fun poem - thanks for sharing with us.

Sky - the selection of poems and pictures on your blog tells me a lot about you. I hope you'll write more.

Savta! Wow! What a beautiful and romantic poem. There is so much in this poem, and I suspect that there are many more poems in Savtadotty. I hope that you keep writing them down in your new notebook, and that you keep sharing them with us!

Lovely, just lovely!

And I gotta say, I so much enjoy your comments on Jo's site. Grounding, compassion and humor--great combination!

Danny - Awww!

Heidi - I really love Jo's blog. I keep commenting on it in hopes of relieving a little of her pain. I suppose we all want that for her.

I am so happy I found your blog. I think I found you on Ronni Bennett, blog "Time Goes By".

Your poem is just the right tonic on a beautiful springtime day even though it is due to rain and thunderstorm tomorrow.

Hello from Michigan!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm just a paranoid old fool, I guess. Uh, well I'm not that old, but I am that paranoid.

That's a pretty poem. Thanks for sharing. I browsed you bloglist and saw a couple I recognized. It's amazing how both small and large the blogosphere is.

Golden Lucy - Shavuah Tov!

Chancy - Welcome, Atlanta. Now we've had a spring rainstorm here too. Spring weather is so fragile.

Big Dave - Welcome, Michigan. They say "Being paranoid doesn't mean nobody's out to get you." I think it's Bill Gates, and your experience reinforces my belief.

Loved your poem. It is one to share with friends. I imagine it would be fun to read to young children. There is so much in it to tweak their creativity.

Glad to see my friend, Big Dave dropped by.

Maria - how perceptive of you to connect the poem with one of its inspirations! I was thinking about my granddaughter and how I would love to be reading something silly to her when I thought of writing a poem for her. She certainly puts "Spring" in my life, year-round.
