Pooh Comes to Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv Winnie the Pooh Mural

I was walking home from Florentin at dusk, (which lasts a very short time around here - the sunsets consist of the sun falling into the horizon over the course of about two minutes), and was greeted with another Tel Aviv surprise. Did the incident depicted on this Tel Aviv wall ever happen in the original stories?

No. All the original stories were set in and around the Ashdown Forest (the Hundred Acre Wood), a real location in Hampshire, and Christopher Robin's home in nearby Hartfield, plus there were Milne's poems about Christopher Robin which included visits to London. The image is probably from one of the Disney cartoon series.

Thanks, Judy. I had a feeling A.A.Milne didn't do ocean stories. Somehow the idea of Disney in Tel Aviv tickles my black humor funny bone. Do you think a Disneyland in Israel would be the ultimate step in the normalization of the Jewish state?

I thought with the Jerusalem Mall, you already had one....

That mural would look great on my son's wall... :-)
