When we were shopping at Staples last summer, I decided US$4.99 was too much for a button that does nothing; I asked Prowesslessnesslessness to pose for a photo with it instead.
According to today's NY Times Magazine (I think you need to subscribe to see the article), Staples has sold nearly 1.5 million of them to date, so I guess I've been living away from the USA too long.
Scary Note: Staples marketing executive Shira Goodman claims to have been seen them in airplane cockpits.

Insane (the button), and calls to mind the pet rock of yore. Yet folks galore call bloggers, blogs, and blogging insane. De gustibus and all that.
I have two of them. Sad.
Tamar, one man's insane is another man's joke. (Guess where I've been living for 18 years?)
Fred, My sympathies.
I moved to NYC, btw, not knowing anyone there, either. Thank heaven for blogging!
The Easy button makes me think of two things: 1)in sales and advertising the best words to use include easy, simple and fun. That is how a committee head gets her members.
2)one of my daughter's friends ran for Student Council Pres. with the motto, "I'm Easy." Her speech: I'm easy to get along with, I believe it is not hard to get difficult things done, I believe that life is positive. Easy does it, let's work together!"
Gee. I would have bought a jillion of those buttons had I had I been in Staples.
