So Cousin Lucy is actually my first cousin once-removed. As if it mattered.

What a stunning portrait! Definitely worth clicking on, to see a larger view. This man looked like he had a dream or a vision.

He certainly is an authoritative looking guy. Great portrait.

Claude I wish I knew what his dream or vision was...there are no family legends remaining, just the portrait.

Fred, I think he looks kind of sad. Of course in those days they didn't smile for portraits. I love his squared-off beard, and wonder whether it just grew that way or had to be trimmed?

What a surprise it is to find this incredible picture. Moishe Eli Caplan is my husband's Great-Great Grandfather and I have never been so thrilled to make such a glorious find. Thank you so much for posting this. I know it was some time ago, but it is such a treat!!!

Wow! That means your husband and I are probably second cousins once removed! I think I have met your in-laws at family events in Los Angeles. The Internet is so cool!
