Does Anyone Know What Time It Is?

Israel goes on and off Summer time in such a secret way that you usually don't know it's happened until you show up an hour late or early for some important appointment, or you miss a plane. I seem to remember the "Spring forward" happening here in recent years just before Passover, and because our time changes have in recent years taken place on a Thursday night, and Passover eve is coming up on Monday, I kind of suspect it's going to happen tonight. But I don't know for sure. I guess I'll wait until tomorrow morning and listen to the 10 o'clock news and maybe they'll know. Then again, they don't always know either.

Why do I love this place so much? The daily mysteries, I guess.

Although I live in London, I had the exact same problem. I wasn't sure if the change had occured or not, so I googled "what time is it?" and got several different answers... then I realised the time on my computer and my cellphone were different: my beloved powerbook had changed the time on his own, which is very thoughtful of him, but without letting me know!!!! How am I supposed to know we changed the time if he hides things from me? Powerbook, we have to com-mu-ni-cate!

In Paris, they advertise it quite a lot, thank you. I wish we didn't have to go through this, though. I hate having to lose an hour!

Miss Worldwide - None of my electronic devices seems smart enough to change the time on their own, so today was dedicated to resetting them all, manually. Including the microwave oven.

Claude - I much prefer the Fall, when we gain back that hour.

Wouldn't be easier, and sensibler, to split the difference and forget about it?

(Of course "sensibler" is a word. What's your point? ;-)

Yep, I lost an hour of sleep and had to show up for work on Friday 8 A-M (it was my turn to "head secretary"). My brand-spanking new co-worker showed up an hour late. She was on the bus and heard them announce the 10 am news and thought they were joking!
