I just figured it out:

< is "<" plus a semi-colon (I'm on the road and don't have access to my cheat sheets)
> is ">" plus a semi-colon

Udge: Thanks. You don't need an HTML crib sheet when you travel. Here's my secret: find a Blogger Help page that displays the characters you want, then "View/Page Source," then "Edit/Find in this page," and copy/paste That's how I found the ampersand and colon business, and I will continue to use this method so I won't have to fill the blogosphere with techy stuff. Onward and Upward with Content!
