My Best Friend

"Shuki" is a mix of long-haired Dachshund, Canaani, with a Rough-collie tail, and who knows what else? She was rescued as a puppy 10 years ago.

She is very proud of her tail. She is less enthusiastic about her sweater, which is French...tres sportif, non?

Hi Only! Welcome to my blog. Have a cup of tea and some home-made chocolate chip cookies. You may notice that the local chocolate chips are inferior to Nestle, but on the other hand the local pecans are superior to any. As for the tea, do I look British?

Doesn't the name 'Dachshund' mean 'roof dog'? Did the breed get it's name because it was somehow more adapted to the rooves or something? Randomn question I know. It's just late. I appreciate your appreciation for rare things.

Only: today's beverage of choice is fresh-squeezed pink grapefruit juice. Yum.

BC: My minimal google research yielded a consensus on the name "dachshund:" the breed derived from an old German badger-hunting hound (in German, "Dach" means badger and "Hund" means hound). Nary a roof in sight. But we live on the top floor of our building and have access to the roof for fireworks-watching on Independence day or hanging out the laundry or sitting in the sun on a warm winter's day, and "Shuki" does enjoy roof-ing (not fireworks though).
