I felt like listening to some music I used to love, and I discovered I still love it. Nehama Hendel had a voice reminiscent of Joan Baez, only Nehama was more musically proficient. And the songs she sings are more rhythmically and melodically complicated. I think I'll have to put her entire recorded oeuvre on my wish list. What I really wish is that she had recorded more before she left this world.
Let me know whether you like her singing too.

The music was great. I really liked the site you linked; they played the music for quite a long time.
I'm glad you liked the music. And that's without even hearing samples from my favorite, "The Collection." If the site offered those, it would be not just good but perfect.
I don't know of her. I'll give her a try.
Steve: Welcome to the blogosphere! Your blog shows promise ;-) Are you who I think you are?
Hi, I am looking for a recording of that fine singer Nechama Hendel singing "The Butcher Boy" song in English if possible. Does anyone know if one exists?
Thanks if you can help.
Paul.
I don't know of any songs Nehama Hendel sang in Engish. If you find any, please let me know!
I met Nechama in 1956 when she had just finished her national service and I was doing mine in the RAF in England. We met in France at a youth hostel south of Paris. She later wrote to me to say that she was travelling to London to stay with relatives and iI travelled down to meet her. She came back to York with me and stayed for nearly a week but did have a day trip to the Lake district where she later told me she couldn't resist bathing even though she didn't have a swimming costume with her.
I was saddened to learn that she had died.
Did she have any children ?
Anonymous: Yes, Nehama had at least one daughter who lives in Israel. I met her at a memorial event at her house in 2000. Much music was played.
She had 2 children, Michael and Dillia. Dillia lives in Hannover and has 3 children, and Michael lives in London
