We are on the other side of the equation, being the folks with the small child, while my parents pine away in the US. I know it's just agony for them to be so far away from him, and to have to settle for pictures and infrequent visits. Hopefully, he'll soon realize that he can actually talk back to the voices on the phone, so that they can stop hoping that he'll choose to say a few words in the background of our adult conversations.
