The piano was my mother's. Today would have been my mother's 107 birthday! The
color colour of the newly-painted wall on the left is Tambour's "
English Rose," as it appears in daylight. At night it's much a deeper rich wine
color colour. Yes, that's "Shuki" on her bed under the piano.

beautiful English rose. we went through 4 colors of purples before the basement was finally finished. we painted the closet walls each a different shade so we could remember!
Niiiice!
A beautiful piano in a gorgeous room. We had our antique piano delivered to our house in 1992, and Hurricane Andrew came along and put the ceiling on the piano. We couldn't salvage it.
I don't play much anymore, but my oldest plays all the time. It's nice to hear her play.
I have not been here before. Your piece on "Tags of Identity" is fascinating, so I have to come back some more and study on that. Just for now, all I can say is "Wow!"
Timna - that's enough to make me want to visit your closet! I love purples.
Noorster - I promise to take a photo of the entire wall. Be patient.
Fred - Sounds like a chicken little story that really came true. Poor piano! I hope the replacement lasts a long time.
John - Now you've seen them in person, so you know they both are.
Hoss - Welcome! I especially appreciate your feedback, 'cause it proves a brain can work just fine even as we become physically decrepit! (Verry slowly, I hope.)
What a beautiful photo. Is that the piano your mom gave lessons on?
Yes, that is the piano on which my mom taught me scales, arpeggios, and Fur Elise. Same chair too. She had given up teaching others by the time this piano came into our home (1943). The bench (on the left in the photo) comes from an upright piano I owned in the 1970's, and I couldn't bear to part with it after I'd made the needlepoint, although I sold the upright back to its original owner.
Love this colour! Brilliant piano too.
Also, love the sweater below. *sigh* I envy talent.
