Wow! You are a domestic goddess!

I sometimes get a yen to do something domestic. Then I lie down until it passes.

Darn, that looks good. I'm a pretty good house cleaner, but not a very good cook. Does a microwave count?

Can we get a recipe, please?

TLP - (smiling graciously from my pedestal) I succumb to my fits of energy, because they are so rare.

Fred - House cleaning! My one failing subject! We are complementary! Like angles in geometry! And yes, a microwave does count: it goes 30, 29, 28, 27, 26, 25, etc. (See, I'm still in high school too.)

John - you were right the first time. There's only one sock...so far. I'm knitting as fast as I can.

Lisa - the banana bread is from "The Joy of Cooking," with the addition of a tablespoon of sour cream or buttermilk. The leek and potato soup is an onion, a carrot, a stalk of celery, all cut up, 5 cloves of garlic crushed, all fried for 5 minutes in oil, two big leeks and two potatoes. Plus water to the top of the pot. And salt and pepper. Oh, and I threw in some chopped parsley, just because I could. Want to come over and taste?

Oh I do love potato leek soup...all soup really. There is something comforting about it.

Happy New Year to you!

Hoss - If only puppies could cook and knit! Mine just eats, talks, and sleeps.

Still Life - I guess soup is nice because there's no chewing (usually), so it's a kind of gentle food. And warm. Not to mention tasty and nourishing. And cheap. And easy. In fact, it might be the perfect food.

I can personally vouch for Savtadotty's banana bread - good stuff!

I was a pretty good boy over the weekend, too: I made one large bunch of latkes (the latter 60% of them with chopped fresh spinach added to the mix, at Vaguely Sinister Wife's request); a batch of chopped liver; and a large pot of chicken soup with matzo balls. (Yum!) So maybe it's catching...

Don - those latkes sound intriguing, although/because unorthodox. And with spinach, they become a Health Food! I like Vaguely Sinister Wife's creativity. Perhaps one day, when the stars are propely aligned, we can stage a joint cooking marathon. Followed by an eating marathon, of course.
